Hoxhunt doesn’t mention pricing on their website. As many enterprise software companies do, they first want to give you a demo before they tell you.

If you stumbled upon this article because you don’t want to spend an hour during a demo only to find out you can’t or don’t want to pay their monthly fee, you’ve come to the right place.

In this article, I’ll share what I’ve found out about Hoxhunt’s user-based pricing.

And if you’re interested, you can also stick around to learn why I think their product is way too expensive and their pricing strategy is wildly outdated.

Let’s get straight into it.

What do you pay per user at Hoxhunt?

If you happen to own a company with EXACTLY 100 people on the payroll, I have the answer for you.

At the time of research, Hoxhunt charges €11,000 for 100 users spread out over 2 years.

This comes down to €4.85 per user, per month.

If you think that’s a little expensive, you’re not alone. One can only guess why the price is so high, but it’s not a difficult guess. Hoxhunt presents itself as a platform for the enterprise. They don’t claim to be a security awareness training or compliance training platform, but a, wait for it — ‘human risk management platform’. It doesn’t get any more enterprise.

That means that if you’re a bigger company with much more employees, chances are high you’ll pay much less per user.

Why I’m not a fan of Hoxhunt’s pricing strategy

Hoxhunt has a great product, but I’m not a fan of their pricing strategy.

Hidden pricing: Want to hear a fun fact? Hoxhunt actually had a pricing page before that implicitly said ‘We’re not saying.’ Even though that’s funny, it’s also just not transparent. As a potential customer, it’s impossible to know whether the number you hear on a call is fair, or if they’re simply trying to find out how much you’ll pay.

User-based pricing: The principe of paying per user in itself is something I’m not a fan of. It means that whenever your business grows, you get punished for it by having to pay for each extra user. Does the vendor have to do more effort for 200 users vs 100 users? No? Then why does it cost more?

It’s expensive: €4,85 per user is a lot. If you’re a 100-person company or smaller, there are a lot more affordable solutions out there to help you be compliant.

Looking for an affordable compliance training platform?

Like I said earlier, Hoxhunt has a good product. For an enterprise organization that wants to keep a pulse on human risk, it’s one of the best options in the market.

But for most smaller organizations that just want to be compliant, Hoxhunt’s product and pricing are simply overkill.

That’s why we started Securan.
